Review: Need for Speed: Pro Street

In Need for Speed: Pro Street you play as an up and coming rally racer who travels all over taking on the competition. There are several different race modes in the game which provides for some nice variety when playing.

One improvement on this series that EA has made is adding extremely realistic car damage and driving physics to the game. This feature makes the game so much more real and puts it on the level of games such as Forza and distinguishes it from games such as Test Drive: Unlimited which has absolutely NO car damage. When playing the game you really get drawn into the realism of being a rally racer, you have to repair your car, customize the aerodynamics of your car, and buy new cars.

EA has also put in a wide variety of cars and manufacturers into the game ranging from Volkswagen to Chevrolet to Pagani. Players of Test Drive: Unlimited will be pleased to discover the inclusion of BMW and Porsche into the game. This also has its drawbacks because even the in-game cars ca be purchased using Microsoft Points. Eventually you will unlock them but if you want them early you can pay for them. This takes away from the game because if you were supposed to advance through the game and have similar cars to the AIs in challenges with you, then you should not be able to buy a Lamborghini while the AIs are using Chevy Colbats.

Although this game has a few quirks that could have been fixed and significantly improved the game. All in all it is one of the top racing games out there currently. Having played NFS Carbon this is a MAJOR improvement for the NFS series. I hope that EA continues to take the series in this direction. All you racing game fans out there, this is a must have for your collection.
