Crackdown, the key for most to get into the Halo 3 Beta has just been released and I was lucky enough to get one of the specially marked copies . After only playing this game for a few hours I turned off my Xbox 360 craving more of it because this game defines the go anywhere, do anything game style. Crackdown is on its way to becoming the new Grand Theft Auto. Crackdown may not be as graphically advanced or as “realistic” but it definitely will pass the time for those GTA fans who can not wait for GTA IV. Even more fun than driving through the streets and shooting up gang members is the abilities that your super soldier get. Jumping from builing to building and killing people with one punch/kick provides hours of fun in itself. You do have missions in which you try to take out members in the three gangs that inhabit the virtual world. When you attempt to kill these lower “boses” you usually first have to get through many generic gang members armed with various firearms. For these lower level boses there are no dramatic cutscenes and the boss does not provide much of a challenge at all once you get to them. There are a wide variety of guns from pistols, to rifles, to rocket launchers that you pick up throughout the game. Another original feature in this game is supply points. Supply point are areas, usually that are hard to acess at the tops of buildings, that you capture from gang members and use to store your weapons. You can go to supply point to replenish your ammunition and you also respawn at supply points when you die. Once all is said and done Crackdown will give you many hours of enjoyable playtime before you get sick of so I would say that if you like GTA style games Crackdown is for you.
