Review: Metroid Prime Hunters

The newest addition to the Metroid series is for the Nintendo DS, Metroid Prime: Hunters. This is a great game that does justice to the Metroid series. The controls are one feature that I especially liked but also found difficult to get used to. You view the world around you (your targets, objects, enemies, etc…) but the standard controls involve using the touch screen to move your gun and the control pad to move. There are other control settings that allow you to use the ABXY to control the gun and the control pad to move, but after you get used to using the stylus after a little while.
Now that it is out and I have it I can honestly say that it was worth the wait. I do not know about you but I played the demo of the game and it was no where near as good as the full version. The single player mode starts off good but then it gets very repetitive. You go too a planet, kill one of the other hunters, then you collect three artifacts which activate the boss portal, then you travel through the boss portal and kill the boss, and finally you need to get to your ship before the timer runs out. Even though the single player may be only satifactory the multi-card,DS download, and Nintendo WiFi play is unbelievalbly fun. You can sit with the game for hours just playing online with other people. Anohter good feature of the online capabilities is that that you can assemble a list of friends and rivals with whitch you can make custom games with and you can also voice chat with. From an overall standpoint I give Metroid Prime: Hunters an 7.5 out of 10 and it is a definite buy for anyone with a DS and acess to a WiFi hotspot.
